The controlled terminal must meet the following conditions to carry out remote power-on.

  • 1. Currently, only the Windows system is supported to realize remote power-on.

  • 2. At least one device must be online in the local area network (LAN) where the controlled terminal is located.

As shown in the figure below, at least one of the LAN devices must be online to send the wake-up command to the offline device. (Gray represents offline)

Requirements:

  1.  The motherboard supports the Wake-On-Lan function.
  2. The network card supports the Wake-On-Lan function.

  • 3. The motherboard on the controlled end needs to support Wake-on-Network and have Wake-On-Lan enabled in the bios (hereinafter referred to as wol wake-up)

Press and hold the F2 key to enter the bios interface when the computer's business icon appears on boot. (Most computers hold down the F2 key, some computer brands press F1.)

After entering the bios, usually look for the following options under “Power Management”:

"Boot on LAN";

"Wake on LAN";

"PME Event WakeUp";

"Resume by MAC LAN";

"Wake-Up by PCI card";

"Wake Up On PCI PME";

"Power On by PCI Card";

"WakeUp by PME of PCI";

"Power On By PCI Devices";

"WakeUp by Onboard LAN";

"Resume By PCI or PCI-E Device"

or similar options and enable it.

Notes:

  • Different motherboards show different function names, find one of the settings is enough.
  • The notebook is not supported.
  • The users can consult the hardware manufacturer for more details.

For the setting of bios, take a certain motherboard of ASUS as an example:

  • After powering on the computer, press the del or ESC button, enter the bios (motherboard settings), and enter the Advanced Setup interface [Advanced Mode];

  • 4. The controlled end of the network card driver needs to be set to open the WOL-related options

Wireless NICs generally do not support WOL, wired NICs mostly support it. (Please consult the hardware manufacturer for specific hardware support)

Find the network card device that supports WOL in Device Manager, right-click and select “Properties”, then turn on “Allow this device to wake the computer” in “Power Management”, and then find “Shutdown Wake-on-LAN” and “Wake on Magic Packet” in the “Advanced” column and set them to “Enabled”.

Note:

  • If the NIC device does not find the following options, it means not supported;
  • Some NIC devices may have different names due to brand manufacturers (for details, please search for your device's brand name setting tutorial);

Up to here, you can try the operation of remote power-on.

♦ If you want to support remote power-on even after the device is turned off for a long time, you need to set the mac address binding of the router additionally.

Here is only a list of Xiaomi router and TP-LINK router setups, other brands of routers are similar, and you can google specific guides.

Notes:

If you still can't power on the computer remotely after both the remote power on and the network card are completed, please try to turn off the firewall. (Firewall may cause IP pinging in LAN)

First, check the IP and IPV4 address of the device to be powered on.

Xiaomi router settings: fill in the corresponding ip and mac address to the corresponding parameter position, and save it.

TP-Link Settings: After enabling arp binding, add entries, fill in the ip and mac address of the device to the corresponding position, and then save the settings.

Setting Mac address binding is to avoid the ip address is not used for a long time, after the router releases the IP, it can't find the device to be powered on after it is acquired by other devices.
