Apple is expanding the Apple TV experience with two new features in iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2: user profiles on iPhone and iPad, and sign language support for select movies and TV shows. The update is expected to arrive next week, according to 9to5Mac.
Apple TV profiles, previously available on Apple TV devices, are coming to iPhone and iPad. The feature allows multiple viewers to maintain separate watch histories, viewing queues, and personalized recommendations under the same account.
Profiles also support child-friendly viewing, helping younger users access age-appropriate content. iOS 27.2 introduces additional profile pictures featuring characters from Apple TV children's shows, including The Snoopy Show, Frog and Toad, and Stillwater.
The Apple TV app is also adding sign language options for select movies and TV shows. Users will be able to enable American Sign Language (ASL) or British Sign Language (BSL), providing another way to access supported content beyond traditional subtitles.
The setting is available under Settings > Apps > TV > Sign Language. Apple has not yet specified how many titles will support the feature at launch.
These updates make Apple TV more accessible and convenient for households sharing an account. Individual profiles help keep recommendations relevant to each viewer, while sign language support offers an additional accessibility option.
As Apple continues to refine its software, smaller updates like iOS 27.2 can deliver meaningful improvements to everyday entertainment and accessibility.
