Samsung Display and LG Display have reportedly begun mass production of OLED panels for Apple’s 2026 product lineup, with the two companies expected to supply every model launching later this year. Here are the details.

Samsung and LG lock down Apple’s 2026 OLED orders

According to ETNews (via MacMagazine), Samsung Display and LG Display will reportedly supply all OLED panels for Apple’s second-half 2026 launches. BOE was left out after quality issues disrupted its iPhone 17 Pro panel shipments last year, with deliveries only resuming in April.

The new report says that while mass production has already started for the OLED panels for the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, the upcoming foldable iPhone, and the iPad mini, OLED production for the MacBook Pro is expected to begin next month, “when Samsung Display’s 8.6-generation OLED production line begins operating.”

ET News says Samsung Display will be the sole OLED supplier for the iPad mini, foldable iPhone, and MacBook Pro, with estimated orders of 2 million, 10 million, and an unspecified number of panels, respectively.

LG Display, meanwhile, will exclusively supply 34 million OLED panels for the Apple Watch Series 12, while both companies will supply a total of 90 million panels for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

ET News adds that the flipside of Apple resorting to only two South Korean companies for its entire OLED supply is that South Korea’s OLED industry is highly dependent on Apple (translation ours):

Apple is the largest customer of South Korea’s display industry. According to Samsung Display’s 2025 sustainability report, the United States, where Apple is headquartered, accounted for 45.6% of the company’s revenue. According to LG Display’s quarterly report, a company believed to be Apple accounted for 58.4% of its revenue.

Today’s report builds on information shared earlier this month that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will reportedly adopt LTPO+ OLED technology, improving power efficiency and display responsiveness, particularly in low-light conditions.

It also adds to a recent report that Samsung Display is preparing to begin mass production of OLED panels for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, with around 2 million units expected this year.
