iOS 10 was announced at the WWDC on June 13 of this year and was officially released in September 13. As of this writing, about 60% have this OS version on their devices. And with every new OS that Apple unveils, it’s almost automatically followed by a question of “When is a jailbreak coming?” Well, apparently jailbreaking team Pangu has some good news: the holiday season might be the time to rejoice. Then again, that’s all we’re hearing. In short, there’s no actual confirmation.

Truth be told, there hasn’t been any major jailbreak for quite a while. Some may even say it has gone silent. However, simply looking through different places on the net will show that there’s still a segment of the population who want a jailbroken device.

Why would they want that? First off, it allows them to have control over their device. Apple is pretty tight with users not being able to mess with their smartphones and tablets and for some that’s rather limiting. This is the intention of jailbreaks: to free your device from control and truly make it your own.

The last jailbreak Pangu released was for iOS 9.3.3 and this was in July. If you can recall, the jailbreak for iOS 9.1 was possible because of a kernel bug. However, that particular flaw was patched up in version 9.2. Since Pangu was able to release a jailbreak for version 9.3.3 it’s safe to say that they must have found a way.

However, Pangu has been silent about an iOS 10 jailbreak. The last branch in the iOS 9 tree was version 9.3.5 which was released in August 25. A month later, version 10 was rolled out.

Since iOS 10’s release in September, there have been a couple of updates. As of this writing, the latest version is 10.1.1 which was released in October. So unless we hear from Pangu themselves, all this ioS10 jailbreak talk are just that: rumors.
