Report: M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro Could Launch ‘as Early as’ March 2nd

There’s been loads of speculation as to when the next generation MacBook Pros with high-end Apple Silicon would launch. Many thought January, then January came and went. All we knew is that they’d launch alongside macOS 26.3 – which should go out to the public in the coming days.

However, that only means that the MacBook Pros have to launch sometime before macOS 26.4 launches to the public. Despite the imminent launch of macOS 26.3, the MacBook Pro launch isn’t quite as imminent, per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

MacBook Pro launch in March

In today’s Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared a new timeline for the MacBook Pro launch with M5 Pro and M5 Max, essentially putting an end to the speculation:

The new MacBook Pros, meanwhile, are tied to the macOS 26.3 cycle that runs through March. The M4 versions of the high-end laptops remain in short supply, a telltale sign that new models are coming. A product launch is currently slated for as early as the week of March 2.

So, if you were someone who was hoping for a MacBook Pro launch incredibly soon, you won’t be getting one. The week of March 2nd isn’t too far, though!

Apple tends to announce products on either a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday – so this essentially locks in a launch sometime between March 2nd and March 4th, assuming nothing changes.

Other nearby Mac launches

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also reaffirms some other looming Mac launches. In his newsletter, he shares that after the new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros, Apple should also be launching a new M5 MacBook Air, a new Mac Studio, and a new Studio Display.

Rumors indicate that the Mac Studio will launch with M5 Max and M5 Ultra, while the new Studio Display should feature HDR support and a higher refresh rate – either 90 or 120Hz.

Further ahead, Apple will be launching an even cheaper MacBook with an A18 Pro chip – sometime in the first half of the year. The company is also planning a new Mac mini as a follow up to its beloved M4 model, which featured the first redesign in well over a decade.

And of course, Apple will be launching the redesigned MacBook Pro with OLED, a thinner design, touch display support, and M6 chips towards the end of the year.
