iOS 26 Rumored to Drop Support for iPhone XS Series

A private but reputable source on X — known for accurate iOS-related leaks — claims that iOS 26 will support only iPhone 11 and newer, along with the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later).

While the original source remains unidentified, their previous track record adds credibility. If accurate, this means iOS 18 would be the final major up date for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, though these models will likely continue receiving security updates after iOS 26’s release.

iOS 26 Compatible Devices (Rumored):

  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max

  • iPhone 12 series, including 12 mini and Pro models

  • iPhone 13 series, including 13 mini and Pro models

  • iPhone 14 series

  • iPhone 15 and 15 Pro series

  • iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 16e

  • iPhone SE (2nd gen and newer)

  • All upcoming iPhone 17 models

As with previous versions, some advanced features will be limited to newer hardware. For instance, Apple Intelligence features will reportedly require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.

The same account successfully predicted iOS 18 compatibility last year, further boosting confidence in this latest report.

iOS 26 Timeline

  • Beta release: Following the WWDC 2025 keynote on June 9

  • Public release: Expected in September 2025
