Starting today, Apple Maps users in the U.S. will be able to search for and view restaurants and hotels with MICHELIN Guide distinctions, including MICHELIN Stars, Green Stars, Bib Gourmand restaurants, and Key-rated hotels.
Apple is also bringing curated content and rankings from The Infatuation and Golf Digest to Maps “soon,” with more sources planned for the future.
Where to?
These expert contributions now appear on place cards across Apple Maps, alongside descriptions and photos. In some cases, users can even book hotels directly from Maps. Apple says restaurant reservations via MICHELIN and golf tee times via Supreme Golf will be added shortly.
According to David Dorn, Apple’s senior director of Internet Software and Services Product, “MICHELIN Guide, The Infatuation, and Golf Digest are leading industry experts that consumers rely on… and we’re excited to bring their valuable insights and accolades to our users in Apple Maps.”
Likewise, Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guide, emphasized that the partnership makes “exceptional gastronomy and hospitality experiences” more accessible to food and travel enthusiasts.
Search filters in Apple Maps will now surface destinations based on these new distinctions, and users will also get to explore curated guides from the partnered brands to help plan outings and trips.
Interestingly, Apple just announced a new Apple TV+ show, “Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars,” which will also center around restaurants, chefs, and the pursuit of a MICHELIN Star.
