In mid-October Patently Apple posted a report titled "Activists urge Apple to drop Pro President Duterte Philippine Drug War Games from App Store." There's actually a group called the "Asian Network of People who Use Drugs (ANPUD)" who demanded that Apple remove silly shooter games from the App Store that showed Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte shooting aliens and bad guys, common themes in games.

In a post on the ANPUD site, the hail their victory for getting "Apple to Remove Games promoting Duterte's War on Drugs."

The post in-part read: "The Asian Network of People who Use Drugs (ANPUD) led a global petition demanding Apple Incorporation's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Tim Cook to urgently perform a formal review and remove all the apps made available by Apple immediately and issue an apology for hosting insensitive content.

The petition was a successful advocacy effort in that the letter was able to generate huge media attention and some of the games were removed from the App Store. The case study is intended to document the story of victory and disseminate the detailed set of actions performed in the process.

You could read the full ANPUD post here. Who knew that a group representing drug users who are for the drug lords could hold such sway against Apple. I'm sure that U.S. drug lords are laughing their butts off about this today.
