iOS 11.2 Beta 1 Likely To Be Released Next Week

Developer, Guilherme Rambo – who is making somewhat of a name for himself for trawling through Apple’s firmware and documents for information – has taken to Twitter to reveal the likely release of iOS 11.2 in beta form to developers next week.

The Brazil-based developer who has taken great delight in ripping apart leaked Apple firmware in the past, has more recently shared early release notes for watchOS 4.1, and is now letting the world know that he expects an initial iOS 11.2 beta 1 getting released to developers next week.

As part of the tweet, Rambo also embedded what appears to be a screenshot ripped from part of Apple’s Developer-facing web portal giving additional information and referencing iOS 11.2 by name. The text within the image informs that “This beta version of iOS 11.2 contains bug fixes and improvements”, which, as we all know by now, is Apple’s standard rhetoric when releasing builds of this nature to developers and public testers.

The official changelog, or release notes as they are often referred to, come with the final public release of the firmware when Apple can comfortably reference everything that’s been included.

The information also provides a direct URL that allows developers to head over to the iOS 11.2 SDK to gain more information about the release, as well as explicitly stating that “this beta version of iOS should only be deployed on devices dedicated for iOS 11.1 beta software development.” Once again, this is standard Apple blurb that’s included with all releases and information of this nature to inform and remind developers that this is a pre-release seed of firmware and may therefore not be acceptable for full installation on an everyday device that’s in use outside of development purposes.

With iOS 11.1 still currently in beta, the likely availability of iOS 11.2 beta 1 next week would suggest that we can more than likely expect to welcome iOS 11.1 as an official public release in the next coming days, or even today. With pre-orders of iPhone X starting tomorrow, and the fact that the tenth anniversary iPhone is expected to ship with iOS 11.1 pre-installed are all factors which point to a public release of iOS 11.1 sooner rather than later. If that was within the next few days or hours then it would pave the way perfectly for iOS 11.2 beta 1 to be released to developers in the first instance.
