A woman has a stark warning about the dangers of losing your iPhone – and inadvertently giving strangers personal information in the process.

Twitter user @afronomics_ recently found a girl's phone in a bathroom while out. She decided to track down the owner, but discovered a great deal more about her that she had intended.

The woman didn't need to 'hack' into the iPhone. All she did was pull up Siri, ask, "what's my name?" and hey ho. And it's alarming what other details she found out.

@afronomics_ also found out the phone owner’s address, age, and even where her car was parked. It was simple, and she highlighted the possible dangers on Twitter to let others know. You ever know who might pick up your phone.

Luckily, there's a way to prevent this. With the most recent iOS update, you can turn Siri off when the iPhone is locked. That way, you'll need the passcode or touch sensor to access everything but an emergency call.

To make sure your iPhone doesn't have Siri operational while locked, go to settings, select 'Touch ID & Passcode', and switch off Siri in the 'Allow access when locked' section.

Lots of people were thankful to @afronomics_ for noting the potential issue on Twitter. And luckily, the owner of the lost iPhone got it back. She came looking for it in the loo.
