Apple Seeds First Developer Beta Of MacOS 12.2

Apple has issued its first developer beta build of macOS 12.2 for testing, marking the start of a new beta cycle for the Mac operating system.

The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled in the test program, or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software. Public betas typically arrive within a few days of the developer versions, via the Apple Beta Software Program website.

The macOS 12.2 beta arrives after Apple publicly released macOS 12.1 on December 13. That version underwent six betas, including two release candidates before being provided to all users as an update.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don't install the betas on primary devices or important hardware, as there is the highly remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Testers should instead install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices as a safer alternative, and to always make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.
